The leaves are deep green, the bracts of the inflorescence are waxy red, and the flowers range from yellow to orange. The plant demands notice whether in the landscape or as a potted specimen." ..... "The red button ginger was first collected in 1941 on Old Bank Island in Panama. Originally lumped in with Costus spiralis, the red button ginger is smaller and has a range limited to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama.
